New York, NY — 2025
Kate K Deng is a fiction writer and essayist based in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up outside Washington, D.C., and came to New York City to pursue her MFA at Brooklyn College, where she is at work on her debut novel.
She came to fiction for the honesty that nonfiction cannot give. Her work is concerned with interiority and the precise weight of ordinary things.
Kate lives with her husband and two poodle mixes who, like her, have strong opinions.
